The Program of Computing in Education at Teachers College, established by Professor Robert Taylor, is almost 30 years old. At that time, microcomputers were just beginning to appear, and schools were starting to buy them and to try to figure out how to use them. In 1983, because of requests from teachers around the country who wanted to work on this degree in the summers, when school was out, we began the Intensive version of the M.A. program. In this version, teachers come to Teachers College for a July session in which they can take up to 8 credits of the 32-credit degree. Participants come for two July sessions or three, and complete the rest of the credit work from home.
